Saudi Arabia granted citizenship to a robot named Sofia, which was developed by the company Hanson Robotics (David Hanson). This was announced at the international forum Future Investment Initiative in the capital of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where the android delivered a speech. Sofia noted that “she” was very happy to be the first robot with a passport in the world, “she” also said that “she” would do everything to become useful for humanity.
Last year, during the presentation to Hanson Robotics, the question of whether Sofia was going to destroy humanity was raised, and the robot responded positively. At an international forum, the robot was asked a similar question once again, wondering if artificial intelligence could be dangerous to humans, to which Sofia replied: “You read too many Ilona Mask posts and watch too many Hollywood movies. Do not worry: if people will treat me well, then I will treat them well. Treat me like an intelligent input / output system.”
On October 11, the android Sophia addressed the UN at a meeting on technical progress, where “she” talked about how artificial intelligence can help humanity.
