Facebook now allows you to add a tab to any page you create in Facebook. A tab is basically an app that you also create in Facebook and configure to have various settings and functions. There are numerous tutorials on the internet that will teach you how to create a Facebook page. One thing to note however is that if you intend to serve content (images, video or even a form) from an existing website on the tab in your Facebook page, then that website needs to have a SSL certificate. Facebook now requires a secure connection for content being served in tabs on Facebook. Please note that a “Facebook Page” is different from your personal Facebook account. To get started, create your Facebook page here then to create your app, start here. The “Website” platform will be enabled by default in your app but if you want to allow your app to show as a tab on your Facebook page then you will need to add “Page Tab” in the platform selection under app “Settings”. To make the actual connection (“app” to “page”) you will need to navigate to http://www.facebook.com/add.php?api_key=APPLICATION_ID&pages=1 where “application_id” will be the id of your app (this was given to you immediately after you created it). On that page you will then be allowed to use the drop-down box to select the page you created to host your app. If your hosting plan is a “shared” plan then you are only allowed one SSL certificate on your hosting account (even if your plan allows you to have more than one domain/more than one website). The process of getting a SSL certificate is a bit complicated so be sure to choose the domain you wish to apply the certificate to carefully. Other hosting plans (typically more expensive) are allowed more then one SSL certificate.
